Meet Amy
I’m a badass momma, loving wife and part-time property/ranch manager carving out gym time and grinding out health programs!
All of us take a lot of shit from this world, I learned to catch it, conquer it, lift it! A shift in paradigm has empowered me to use my strength, and I’m ready to share it with you.
My story looks different because I’m different. I’m real, I’m honest, and I promise the gains you achieve will spread to every factor in your life.

How it started
My first true love was a barbell at the age of 13. This love affair continued into high school, where I broke a couple of school records for the squat and leg press. I was the only girl in a weightlifting class full of guys in the late 80’s when it was not so cool for women to have muscles. The exhilaration that comes from lifting heavy things is like no other. I have always loved fitness, but I have also struggled with being overweight my entire life. And though I tried to never let the insecurity of being an overweight teen affect my performance in the weight room, I did quit playing sports because of my insecurities. I loathed PE class, especially when they did fitness testing and weighed everyone in the same room. Those are scars that just don’t seem to go away. I did everything in my power to be “skinnier” back in those days. I could never get down to the weight that society and the BMI chart said I should weigh. I tried nearly everything. Although I struggled with my weight, I did not let that define who I was or the goals I wanted to achieve.
My first year of college I struggled with my health and the direction I wanted to take in life. An illness opened my eyes and that experience helped jump start my path back into wellness. Soon my passion for fitness was reignited and I became a certified “Johnny G Spinning” and “Body Pump” instructor and started teaching classes in a private studio. I went on to teach at several other locations, obtained my personal training certification and started back up in the weight room. I even competed in a couple of power lifting competitions! At this point, I decided to get a degree in Exercise Science and Sport Management. Because of a previous degree, I ended up with a minor in Sociology, Psychology and Business. I continued teaching a variety of fitness classes for the next several years. When I became pregnant with my first son, I taught several classes until I was 8 months pregnant. My husband, children and I have lived in various cities in Colorado and no matter where I went, I always seemed to find my way back to a gym. Now I am embracing that the gym is where I belong, and who I was meant to be.
The struggle is real
Simultaneously through the years, I continued to struggle with keeping my body at a “healthy” weight. I had sometimes successfully, sometimes unsuccessfully tried every diet under the sun to get my body to weigh what society said it should weigh. I lost and gained the same 50 pounds through pregnancies and the ups and downs of life. I yo-yo dieted for 30 years.
Finally, over years of experience, study and inner growth, I have made peace with my body and found what works for ME. Over the last 5+ years, I have maintained a weight that works for my body. I can take an extra 10 pounds off, but I have to work very hard to maintain it and I tend to get sick more often, struggle mentally, and have less strength gains in the weight room. It’s not worth it!
Real Health for Real People
Many men and women struggle to find and keep a "healthy weight" (What is even considered a healthy weight for us?) It sure as hell isn’t the BMI chart at the doctor’s office that puts everyone in the same category. Do they know my lean muscle to body fat ratio?? I wish more physicians took the focus off of scale weight only. There are so many factors that are true for what optimal health looks like. Health and wellness to me is more than the number on the scale or a picture of what a "healthy" person looks like. It all boils down to finding a program that works for you that includes all aspects of body, mind and spirit.
Please, please, please don’t take your advice from the IG fitness influencers who don’t have the background or the education to properly guide you on the right path. I have learned over the years that just because a body looks healthy does not mean that the person is thriving. I understand what a body needs to be metabolically healthy. I also understand the whole psychology of body image, societal pressures and getting to the root of our struggles. Peace comes from making those struggles work for us. The pillars of our health depend on our peace along with our strength and our diets. Finding someone who understands your struggle and can help you on your quest can make all the difference in the world.
